Renewing a CCP costs different amounts depending on the route that you choose, and on how many AACEI certifications you hold. AACE International (AACEI) publishes fees for recertifying by CEUs and by exam. This guide sets them side by side. Then it explains how the per-certification fees work and what AACEI does not state.
Quick answer
AACE International (AACEI) publishes two recertification routes for the Certified Cost Professional (CCP). By CEUs, a certificant who holds only the CCP pays US$295 as a member or US$385 as a non-member, and each extra AACEI certification costs less. By exam, the CCP costs US$525 for members and US$690 for non-members. Fees apply per certification held, not per renewal. AACEI states no late fee, so confirm current amounts before you pay.

How much does CCP recertification cost?
AACEI publishes fees for two routes. You can recertify by CEUs, or you can recertify by exam. The table below compares the two for a CCP. Amounts are in US dollars as AACEI published them at the time of writing.
| Route | What you do | Fee for the CCP | Key rule |
|---|---|---|---|
| By CEUs | Log activities and apply within six months of your end date | US$295 member; US$385 non-member (if the CCP is your only AACEI certification) | At least 12 CEUs from more than one category |
| By exam | Register, pay and pass one exam | US$525 member; US$690 non-member | One attempt and no resit |
AACEI’s fee tables say that the fees include its professional review and processing. Also, you can read the rules in the AACEI recertification program handbook. Our guide to CCP recertification and CEUs explains how the CEU route works.

How do the per-certification fees work?
On the CEU route, the fee depends on how many AACEI certifications you hold. Each row of the table counts one certification, such as a CCP. The first is the most expensive. However, the fourth to sixth cost nothing.
| AACEI certifications you hold | Member fee | Non-member fee |
|---|---|---|
| 1st certification held (or only one) | US$295 | US$385 |
| 2nd certification held | US$100 | US$150 |
| 3rd certification held | US$100 | US$150 |
| 4th, 5th and 6th certification held | US$0 | US$0 |
| Maximum total | US$495 | US$685 |
What does first certification mean?
It does not mean your first renewal. The table counts different AACEI certifications that you hold, such as a CCP and a PSP. If the CCP is your only certification, you pay the first row. If you hold two, the second one falls in the second row. AACEI does not state which of your certifications counts as the first.
Fees follow certifications, not renewals
AACEI says that fees are applied per certification currently held. They do not depend on the recertification cycle or the number of times that you have recertified. Therefore, the fee does not rise each time that you renew.
Separate applications for each certification
If you hold more than one AACEI certification, you must submit a separate application for each active certification. For example, a CCP holder who also holds a PSP submits two applications. Also, AACEI says that all CEU route fees are non-refundable, regardless of renewal or denial.
What does the exam route involve?
Recertification by exam suits a certificant who has not earned enough CEUs. It requires registration for an exam and payment. Then you pass one exam to renew for three more years.
One attempt and a deadline
AACEI gives you one opportunity to pass, and it says that there is no resit. You can recertify by exam up to six months before your end date. You must pass before your end date or by the end of the grace period.
The steps in AACEI’s guide
The AACEI recertification application guide lists the steps. First, you choose your digital badge preference, accept the terms and pay. After AACEI processes your clearance, you add the exam delivery item. Then you receive an email with instructions and a voucher code to schedule the exam in Webassessor.
What the pages do not say about the exam
The recertification pages do not state the exam format, the pass score or when results come out. Therefore, check with AACEI before you plan. Our guide to the CCP exam format covers the exam for first-time candidates.
Can you add up your fees?
Choose your number of certifications and your status. Then the calculator adds the CEU route fees.

Choose how many different AACEI certifications you hold, including your CCP, and your status. The calculator then adds the published CEU route fees for each one. It does not count renewals.
About this example: it starts with 2 AACEI certifications, such as a CCP and a PSP, and a member fee. Change the choices to match you.

What if you miss the deadline?
AACEI places a certification that is not renewed by its end date in a 6-month grace period automatically. After that period, the certification is decertified, with no further extension. However, AACEI says that grace period extensions may be available in extenuating circumstances.
Do not plan to use the grace period
AACEI says that the grace period is not designed for earning extra CEUs. Also, it states no late fee. Therefore, aim to submit before your end date. You can contact recertification@aacei.org about extenuating circumstances.
What does AACEI not state?
The pages that we reviewed leave some points open. Therefore, confirm them with AACEI before you pay.
Points that we could not find
We found no late fee, no refund terms for the exam route and no statement on whether the exam route fee is included in the CEU fee table. Also, the pages do not state the recertification exam format or pass score. In addition, AACEI staff do not offer preliminary reviews of an application or of possible CEUs.
Where this leaves your plan
Treat the amounts on this page as a guide and confirm the current fees on your AACEI profile. After you pass the CCP exam, our guide to what to do after you pass shows the next steps.
