Certified Cost Professional (CCP®) exam preparation
The CCP® is the flagship credential of AACE International (AACEI) in cost engineering, estimating and project controls. It recognizes experienced practitioners who can apply Total Cost Management (TCM) across the planning, execution and management of projects, and communicate it to stakeholders at every level.

How the exam works now
The CCP is a 5-hour, closed-book, computer-based exam of 120 questions: 119 multiple-choice questions — simple items plus compound, scenario-based sets — across the six scored domains, followed by one memo-writing task. On-screen formula sheets are provided and any battery-operated calculator is allowed. The exam is scored as the average of the domain scores; you need 70% overall to pass, and results are released pass/fail, so no single domain can be ignored.

One overall pass mark, six weighted inputs. Because the exam is scored as a straight average, a strong Domain 1 (36% of the exam) matters most — but every domain still counts toward your 70%.

How do I maintain my CCP certification?
You recertify by earning 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) across at least two AACEI-defined categories within your three-year cycle, or by retaking the exam instead.
How long is the CCP certification valid for?
Three years from the date it is issued. You must then renew — either through recertification or by retaking the exam — to keep your CCP active.
