You want to sit the Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) exam from the American Society for Quality (ASQ), and the practical question is when. Candidates often ask us to check the available dates, and we can. What we cannot do is promise that a date open today will still be open when you are ready to book. This guide settles how to time your application and your appointment.

Why is the exam date you see today not guaranteed later?

Prometric appointments are booked by candidates one at a time, so the dates open today are only a snapshot of today.

It lists only the first dates for each center, with a link to search each center for more. Run the same search a few weeks later and the list can look different, because other candidates keep booking these appointments.

We can check available dates and testing options for you. But suppose we see several November appointments today. That does not mean the same appointments will exist when you decide to book several weeks later. Other candidates book them in the meantime. ASQ advises candidates to schedule as soon as they have chosen their exam date, because ASQ cannot guarantee appointment availability.

What are the CMQ/OE application deadlines?

Each testing window has its own ASQ application deadline, and ASQ states that it makes no exceptions for late applications.

These deadlines come from the ASQ exam dates and deadlines page; check it before you apply, because ASQ can update them. If you want a November testing window, do not wait for the last day. Submit your application with all required documents and payment as early as you can, and no later than 12 Oct 2026. What do you submit, and what happens after you apply?

You submit your application with your CV, degree certificate and payment, and ASQ then sends an eligibility email with your scheduling instructions.

Have these ready before you start.

• Your completed ASQ application for the CMQ/OE exam.
• Your CV or resume, showing your on-the-job experience.
• Your degree certificate.
• The exam fee payment.

ASQ asks for 10 years of on-the-job experience in the CMQ/OE Body of Knowledge areas, 5 of them in a decision-making position, and a degree can reduce that requirement. When do you receive your seating information?

ASQ states that computer-based candidates receive an eligibility email 1-2 business days after the approval notification. Allow roughly 48-72 hours after you submit, subject to ASQ processing. The email usually comes from cert@asq.org with a subject such as “ASQ Exam Seating Information”, and it contains the details you need to book. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive.

How do you schedule your CMQ/OE exam with Prometric?

You book on the Prometric website through the Prometric ProScheduler link in your eligibility email, choosing between a test center and remote proctoring where it is available.

If you live in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia or Qatar, plan for a test center, because ASQ states that live remote proctoring is not offered there. Everywhere else, confirm that remote testing is available for your location and exam before you choose it. How long does your CMQ/OE eligibility last?

Your eligibility starts with the testing window you selected and extends across 3 consecutive testing windows.

For example, if you select January, your eligibility extends across January, March and May. You must schedule and take the exam within one of those windows. If you select November, the same rule gives you November, January and March.

• Book your appointment before the end of your eligibility period. ASQ states that fees are forfeited without a refund if you do not schedule with Prometric in time.
• If you miss the period, you must reapply and pay the applicable fees again.
• Your eligibility email states the exact period for your application, so treat it as final. The ASQ exam application FAQ explains the rule too.

How do you plan backward for the exam month you want?

You start from the month you want to sit the exam and work backward through 5 steps.

1. Pick your target month. Choose one of the 6 odd-numbered testing windows.
2. Submit your application early. Include your CV, degree certificate and payment, well before the ASQ deadline.
3. Receive your seating information. Watch for the eligibility email from ASQ.
4. Check Prometric availability. Compare test centers and, where allowed, remote dates.
5. Select and book your appointment. Confirm the date and time as soon as you are happy with them.

The rule is simple: check early, apply early, schedule early. Final appointments always depend on what Prometric shows when you schedule. If your preparation is also still ahead of you, build your study plan around the same target month.
