Finishing the AACE International (AACEI) Certified Cost Professional (CCP) exam is not the end of the wait, because the result does not appear on the screen when you finish. The delay comes from how AACEI grades the exam, and it is predictable once you know the cycle. This guide explains when results arrive, what they tell you and what to do while you wait.
Quick answer
AACE International (AACEI) does not give Certified Cost Professional (CCP) exam results immediately. AACEI grades the memo in monthly grading cycles, on or around the 15th of the month, and gives results approximately 2 to 3 weeks after that. AACEI reports results as pass or fail only, and an overall average score of 70% is needed to pass.

Why are CCP results not immediate?
CCP results are not immediate because the memo must be graded and averaged with your multiple-choice result, according to AACEI’s certification FAQs. Graders mark memos in monthly cycles, so the final result cannot be produced when you finish the exam.
Is every AACEI exam graded this way?
No. AACEI states that results for the CCT and CST exams are given immediately. Results for the CCP and several other professional-level exams are delayed because they include a component that must be graded.

How long do CCP results take?
CCP results take approximately 2 to 3 weeks after the monthly grading cycle. AACEI’s examination delivery page says grading begins on the 15th of each month, unless the 15th falls on a weekend or a US holiday.
The wait runs from the grading cycle, not from your exam date.
What if you take the exam late in the month?
AACEI does not state the cut-off date for each grading cycle. An exam taken just before the 15th may reach the cycle that month, and one taken just after it may wait for the next, so ask AACEI if the timing matters to you.
When can you expect your result?
Enter your exam date and the estimator below finds the next grading date on or after it, then adds 2 to 3 weeks. Use it as a planning guide, not a promise.
CCP results estimator
For planning only. AACEI does not state its cut-off for each grading cycle, so treat the dates as an estimate.
About this example: the example date is the 10th of next month. An exam on the 10th falls before that month’s grading cycle on the 15th, so the estimate adds 2 to 3 weeks to the 15th. If your exam is not picked up in that cycle, the estimate moves back by a month.

What does a CCP result tell you?
A CCP result tells you only whether you passed or failed. AACEI releases results on a pass or fail basis only, in line with the policy of its Certification Board, so no individual scores are given.
How is the result calculated?
You need an overall average score of 70% or higher to pass. AACEI states that the final result is arrived at by averaging the scores of all 7 domains, and the multiple-choice questions and the memo both feed into that average.
Can you ask for a score breakdown?
AACEI’s FAQs do not address score breakdowns or re-scoring. They do say that a candidate with a dispute or complaint about examination results can file a formal dispute through an online form, and that complainants may appeal a decision. The FAQs do not state a deadline or a fee.
What if your results are delayed?
Check AACEI’s CCP examination updates page, where AACEI posts notices when exam activity is delayed. AACEI states there that candidates will not lose examination eligibility solely because of administrative delays, and that registration periods affected by a temporary suspension receive an appropriate extension.
How will AACEI tell you?
For affected candidates, AACEI says it communicates by direct email and through official notices on its website. AACEI’s FAQs do not say how results themselves are delivered, so keep the contact details in your AACE profile up to date.
What happens after you get your result?
If you pass, you can opt in to a free digital badge, and if you do not pass, your registration window still applies. AACEI’s FAQs do not state when a certificate is issued or when the certification becomes effective, so ask AACEI directly.
What if you do not pass?
You have 6 months from clearance to take the exam up to 3 times, and 2 of the attempts are at a reduced fee. After the 6 months, you must begin a new registration and pay the full exam fee.
What if you pass?
AACEI offers active certificate holders a digital badge through BadgeCert at no charge, and you must opt in to receive it. Your certification is valid for 3 years, so plan your recertification early.
How should you use the waiting time?
Use the wait to plan both outcomes instead of waiting idle. If you passed, you will want to start tracking continuing education units for recertification. If you did not, the reduced-fee attempts in your registration window are limited, so a plan is useful.
How can you plan a retake while you wait?
Our AACE CCP study plan shows how to structure the weeks ahead, and our CCP mock exam guide explains how to use practice tests. The CCP study guide covers what to study, and our CCP sample exam questions let you test yourself.
