How to Access Your PMP® Student Kit in PMI®’s New LMS
PMI® has replaced the old button-based student kit with a streamlined left-hand menu in a simple, linear list. Here’s how to find your materials, when to take the Knowledge Check, and how to download your certificate.
In this guide
If you’re studying for the PMP® with a PMI® Authorized Training Partner, your official course materials live in a PMI student kit, accessed through your myPMI account. PMI has updated how that kit looks and works. Below is a plain-English walkthrough of the new layout, in the order you’ll actually use it.
What changed in the new student kit?
The previous version of the kit relied on button-based navigation. In the new LMS view, that has been replaced with a left-hand menu organized as a linear list. Each section is a box you click to open, and left and right arrows let you move back and forward through the sections in order.
The practical effect is that everything sits in one predictable place, so you’re no longer hunting across separate buttons to find your materials, videos or end-of-course steps.
How do you open your student kit?
- Log in to your myPMI profile and click your name in the top right corner to open the dropdown menu.
- In the dropdown, click My Courses.
- Find and click the title of your ATP Student Kit to launch it.
Log in with the same PMI account connected to your course registration, so your kit and your records stay together.
What’s in the left-hand menu?
Once the kit opens, the new layout shows its elements in a left-hand menu. Click any box to open that section’s materials and resources, or use the arrows to step through them.
| Menu section | What you’ll find |
|---|---|
| Before your Session Begins | Information and resources to review before class |
| Course Materials | The current and previous versions of your course materials |
| Spotlight Videos | A list of the available video titles |
| Next Steps: Knowledge Check | The end-of-course check, translated for translated student kits |
| Next Steps: Course Survey | The post-class survey |
Working through the kit in order, the sequence is: open Before your Session Begins, then Course Materials, then Spotlight Videos, and finally Next Steps, where the Knowledge Check and Course Survey sit.
When should you take the Knowledge Check?
Only after you’ve finished the full 35-hour training. This timing matters more than it looks.
Under PMI’s current guidance, you don’t need a passing score, but you do need to complete the Knowledge Check to receive your course completion record and generate your certificate. Because an attempt is what triggers the completion report, treat it as the final step of your training, not a preview. For the full picture on scoring and retakes, see our guide to the PMP Knowledge Check.
Why the course survey comes last
After the Knowledge Check, the final item under Next Steps is the Course Survey. You scroll through and answer the questions. Instructors should guide students to take this post-class survey once the 35-hour class is complete, so it reflects your full experience of the course rather than a partial one.
How do you download your certificate?
Once your course is marked complete, your certificate is generated in your PMI account. To save a copy:
- Go to pmi.org and log in with your myPMI credentials.
- Click your name in the upper right corner to open the dropdown menu.
- Click My Courses.
- Click Completed Courses.
- Click Certificate.
- To save or print, click Print.
- Choose Save as PDF.
- Click Save.
Keep this PDF alongside the certificate you received from your training provider. If your PMP application is ever selected for audit, PMI may use your course completion records to verify your training, so it’s worth having both to hand.

When should I take the PMP Knowledge Check in the PMI student kit?
