You have booked your evenings for the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam, and now you want to know what to study with and how to practice. The Project Management Institute (PMI) gives learners of an Authorized Training Partner two official sets of resources, and many candidates open them without a plan. This guide explains the student kit, the official mock exams and how to use both.
Quick answer
The official PMI resources for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam are the ATP Student Kit in your myPMI account and the official mock exams. The student kit has five sections: Before your Session Begins, Course Materials, Spotlight Videos, Knowledge Check and Course Survey. The mock exam set has 3 full-length mock exams and a 4th mock exam of 76 questions.
| Awarding body | Project Management Institute (PMI) |
| Where the kit lives | Your myPMI account, under My Courses |
| Student kit sections | 5: Before your Session Begins, Course Materials, Spotlight Videos, Knowledge Check, Course Survey |
| Official mock exams | 3 full-length mock exams and a 4th mock exam of 76 questions |
| Training requirement | 35 hours before you attempt the Knowledge Check |
| 2026 exam | 180 questions (170 scored), 240 minutes |
| Certificate | Downloaded from myPMI under Completed Courses |
What are the official PMI resources for PMP preparation?
There are two: the ATP Student Kit that comes with your 35-hour course, and the official mock exams you use to test yourself.
The student kit is where you find the official courseware, the video library and the end-of-course assessment. The mock exams are where you practice answering questions in the style of the exam. Used together, they let you learn the material first and then check how well you can apply it. Our guide to the new PMP exam materials for 2026 explains how the updated course fits in, and the PMP course modules for 2026 lists what the modules cover.
Not sure how to open your student kit? Our course includes 1-on-1 application support and one-year LMS access.
How do you access the PMI student kit?
You open it from your myPMI account: click your name, select My Courses and click the ATP Student Kit title.
- Step 1. Log in to your myPMI profile and click your name in the top right corner to open the dropdown menu.
- Step 2. Select My Courses from the dropdown menu.
- Step 3. Find the ATP Student Kit title and click it to launch the kit.
- Step 4. Use the left-hand menu to open each section, and the left and right arrows to move between them.
Not seeing the kit? Your myPMI account must be linked to your course registration through the Authorized Training Partner. Our illustrated guide on how to activate your official PMI PMP course materials walks through it.
What is inside the student kit?
The kit has five sections, shown in a left-hand menu, and each one has a specific job.
| Section | What you find | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Before your Session Begins | Pre-session information | Before your first class |
| Course Materials | Current and previous versions of the courseware | During and after training |
| Spotlight Videos | A library of video titles | When a topic needs a second look |
| Knowledge Check | The end-of-course assessment | Only after the 35 hours |
| Course Survey | A feedback questionnaire | After the 35 hours |
Why should you wait before the Knowledge Check?
Attempting the Knowledge Check marks your student kit as complete and reports the course to PMI Certification as evidence of your 35 hours of training. Complete the full 35-hour course first, because the completion cannot be undone by retaking later.
What official mock exams do you get?
You get 3 full-length official mock exams and a 4th mock exam of 76 questions.
The three full-length exams are for pacing: you sit a complete exam, see how you manage your time and note which topics cost you marks. The 4th mock exam is shorter, with 76 questions, so it suits a focused review in a single session, for example in the last week before your exam.
Do the mock exams change?
Yes. PMI releases new question sets from time to time, and 3FOLD Training updates its practice material whenever PMI provides them. Check back through your LMS before you start your final round of practice, so you work with the current sets.
Mock exam score tracker
For practice only. A mock score is not an official PMI pass mark.
The preloaded example shows a learner who scored 58%, 64% and 69% on the three full-length mocks and 55 out of 76 on the 4th (72%). The scores rise by 14 points, which shows that review between attempts is working.
How should you use the mock exams?
Use them to find your weak topics, not to chase a number.
- Take your first full-length mock exam after you finish the course, and treat the score as a baseline.
- Review every wrong answer, and write down why the right answer is better.
- Spend the next few days on the domain where you lost the most marks.
- Take the next full-length mock in one sitting, without pausing, to practice stamina.
- Keep the 76-question mock exam for a short focused review before the exam.
What should the last week look like?
In the final week, stop learning new material. Retake the topics from your wrong-answer notes, skim the Spotlight Videos for any concept that still feels weak, and finish with the 76-question mock exam as a short focused check. Then rest, because you need a clear head for 240 minutes of questions.
PMI does not publish a fixed passing percentage for the exam, so a 70% on a mock is not an official threshold. Our guides on how to avoid PMP exam failures and the top 10 study resources for PMP exam preparation give more habits to build around your practice.

What does the PMP exam look like in 2026?
The 2026 exam has 180 questions, of which 170 are scored, and 240 minutes to complete it.
| Domain | Weighting |
|---|---|
| People | 33% |
| Process | 41% |
| Business Environment | 26% |
The exam has 10 unscored pretest questions, and PMI gives you two 10-minute breaks. These figures come from the 2026 PMP Exam Content Outline, and PMI lists the full requirements on its Project Management Professional page. Business Environment now carries 26% of the exam, so see our article on PMP exam domain weighting in 2026, and read whether the new PMP exam is harder if you are weighing your readiness.
How do you download your training certificate?
Download it from your myPMI account under Completed Courses, after you complete the student kit.
- Step 1. Go to pmi.org and log in with your myPMI credentials.
- Step 2. Click your name in the upper right corner, then My Courses.
- Step 3. Click Completed Courses, then Certificate.
- Step 4. Click Print, choose Save as PDF and click Save.
Keep the PDF with your application documents, because PMI can ask for proof of training if your application is selected for audit. Our PMP exam application audit guide explains what to expect, and the PMP application process shows where the certificate fits.
Frequently asked questions
What official PMI resources do you get for PMP exam preparation?
Learners who train with a PMI Authorized Training Partner receive access to the official PMI ATP Student Kit in their myPMI account for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam. The kit has five sections: Before your Session Begins, Course Materials, Spotlight Videos, Knowledge Check and Course Survey. Learners also practice with 3 full-length official mock exams and a 4th mock exam of 76 questions.
How do you access the PMI student kit for the PMP course?
Log in to your myPMI profile, click your name in the top right corner, select My Courses and click the ATP Student Kit title to launch it. The Project Management Institute (PMI) shows the kit elements in a left-hand menu, and you can move between sections with the arrows.
How many official mock exams are there for the PMP exam?
There are 3 full-length official mock exams for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam, plus a 4th mock exam of 76 questions. 3FOLD Training updates its practice material when the Project Management Institute (PMI) provides new sets of questions.
Why does the 4th PMP mock exam have only 76 questions?
The 4th mock exam is a shorter set of 76 questions, not a full-length exam. Use the 3 full-length mock exams to practice pacing across the whole Project Management Professional (PMP) exam, and use the 76-question set for focused review.
What does the Knowledge Check do in the PMI student kit?
Attempting the Knowledge Check marks the PMI student kit as complete and reports the course to PMI Certification as evidence of the 35 training hours for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam. Complete the 35-hour training before you attempt it.
How do you download your PMP training certificate of completion?
Log in to pmi.org with your myPMI credentials, click your name, select My Courses and then Completed Courses, and click Certificate. Choose Print, then Save as PDF and Save. The Project Management Institute (PMI) provides the certificate once the student kit is complete.
Is a mock exam score the same as the real PMP passing score?
No. The Project Management Institute (PMI) does not publish a fixed passing percentage for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam, so a mock exam score is not an official pass mark. Use your scores to see which topics need more study.
How many questions are on the PMP exam in 2026?
The 2026 Project Management Professional (PMP) exam from the Project Management Institute (PMI) has 180 questions, of which 170 are scored and 10 are unscored pretest questions. The exam time is 240 minutes, with two 10-minute breaks.
