Three domains on the AACE International (AACEI) Certified Cost Professional (CCP) exam are much smaller than the rest. They are Create Reports and Documentation, Inform the Risk Management Process, and Support and Inform the Scheduling Process. However, small does not mean safe. Together they carry 28 of the 119 multiple-choice questions, which equals the whole Interface with Other Disciplines domain. This guide explains all three.
Quick answer
In AACE International’s May 2026 blueprint, Create Reports and Documentation is weighted 11% with 13 questions. Inform the Risk Management Process is weighted 7% with 9 questions. What do the three domains cover?
AACEI’s CCP Examination Blueprint (May 2026) lists 18 skill areas across the three domains. The blueprint itself calls them tasks. The table shows each one in AACEI’s wording, while the theme column is our own grouping.

Create Reports and Documentation
This domain has 8 skill areas, labelled 3.A to 3.H. It is the largest of the three, with 13 questions. However, the definitions below are general, and they are not AACEI quotations.
Reports and dashboards
First, you prepare and update cost reports and dashboards. You also prepare variance reports and schedule status reports. Next, you explain the financial health of the project to many types of stakeholders.
Indices, profit and cash flow
Here you interpret the cost performance index (CPI) and the schedule performance index (SPI). In short, they compare earned value with actual cost and with planned work. You also prepare profit margin reports and conduct cash flow analysis.

Inform the Risk Management Process
This domain has 6 skill areas, labelled 6.A to 6.F, and 9 questions. Also, it asks you to inform risk work, not to lead it.
Risk profile and registers
First, you work with risk subject matter experts to understand the risk profile. Then you support the development of risk registers. A risk register is a list of the risks on a project. You also support the risk assessment process, both qualitative and quantitative.
Risk analysis and contingency
Next, you review and interpret risk analysis and its effect on a specific project. Then you conduct risk-based contingency analysis. Finally, you manage contingency reserves. A contingency reserve is money held for risks.
Support and Inform the Scheduling Process
This is the smallest domain, with 4 skill areas, labelled 5.A to 5.D, and 6 questions. In short, it links cost to the schedule.
Schedules and cost impact
For example, you support cost and resource loading summaries that are based on project schedules. Also, you review baseline and detailed schedules for their cost resources. In addition, you estimate how schedule changes translate into cost impacts. Finally, you support the scheduling process, for example by updating forecasts.
Why should you not skip them?
AACEI states that you need an overall average of 70% to pass. In addition, the final result averages the scores of all 7 domains. So each small domain is one of seven scores, whatever its question count.
Each domain is one of seven scores in the average.
The table shows where the three domains sit, because the counts matter. They come from AACEI’s CCP details page.
| Domain | Blueprint weighting | Skill areas | Multiple-choice questions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Managing Project Costs | 36% | 27 | 43 |
| Interface with Other Disciplines | 24% | 18 | 28 |
| Conduct Performance Measurement and Analysis | 17% | 13 | 20 |
| Create Reports and Documentation | 11% | 8 | 13 |
| Inform the Risk Management Process | 7% | 6 | 9 |
| Support and Inform the Scheduling Process | 5% | 4 | 6 |
Can you pass by ignoring them?
AACEI does not state a separate pass mark for each domain. However, a very low score in any domain pulls the average down. Therefore, give the small domains a fair share of your time.
How do they link to the larger domains?
For example, reports build on cost data from the Managing Project Costs domain. Also, scheduling and risk work depend on the people skills in the Interface with Other Disciplines domain.
Which themes should you revise first?
Tick each theme where you already feel confident. Then the checker counts them and lists the ones to revise first.
Small domains theme check
For planning only. Tick the themes where you already feel confident. The checker then shows what to revise first.
About this example: it starts with the 2 reporting themes ticked. As a result, it shows the risk and scheduling themes as the ones to revise first.
