PMP® Knowledge Check: how to complete it and get your PMI Certificate of Achievement
Complete the Knowledge Check, then find your certificate in myPMI and the learning platform. Here is what to do, step by step.
In this guide
If you are taking PMP® training with a PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP), your PMI Certificate of Achievement now depends on one step: completing the Knowledge Check. The Project Management Institute (PMI®) has told its ATPs about this new requirement. This guide explains how you get the certificate, where you find it and what to do if you have not completed it yet.
Quick answer
A PMP Certificate of Achievement is issued after you finish a PMI Authorized Training Partner course and complete the Knowledge Check at the end. PMI generates the certificate automatically when you complete it, and you can access it through myPMI and the learning platform. Learners who do not complete the Knowledge Check do not receive the certificate, which may affect their ability to demonstrate the required training.

What is the PMP® Certificate of Achievement?
It is the certificate that shows you completed PMP training with a PMI Authorized Training Partner.
It is not the PMP credential. The PMP certification is awarded by PMI after you meet the eligibility requirements and pass the exam. The PMI Certificate of Achievement is your proof of training, and PMI may use course completion records to verify that training if your application is audited.
What is the new PMI requirement for getting it?
You must complete a Knowledge Check at the end of the course, and no minimum score is required.
Take it only after you have finished the training. It is not a mid-course quiz. PMI has told Authorized Training Partners that the course content stays the same, but learners must now complete the Knowledge Check to receive a PMI Certificate of Achievement. Instructors have access to the Knowledge Check through their Instructor Kit. Learners also receive a student kit: PMI-approved content that reinforces key concepts, and the Knowledge Check itself.

How do you get your PMP® Certificate of Achievement, step by step?
Complete the course and the Knowledge Check, then collect your certificate.
- Join a course delivered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner. Confirm this before you enroll.
- Complete the sessions and your student kit, including the LMS activities your provider assigns.
- Complete the Knowledge Check at the end of the course.
- Collect your PMI Certificate of Achievement. PMI generates it automatically when you complete it.
- Save a copy with your provider’s certificate and your application records.
PMI has not published the number of questions in its guidance to partners, and no minimum score is required, so ask your trainer how the Knowledge Check works in your course.
Where do you access your PMI Certificate of Achievement?
You can access it through myPMI and through the learning platform.
Sign in to your myPMI account or open the learning platform your course uses, and look for your certificate once you have completed the Knowledge Check. Download it and store it with your PMP application records, so that it is ready if PMI asks for evidence.
What happens if you do not complete the Knowledge Check?
You do not receive the PMI Certificate of Achievement until you complete it.
PMI states that failing to complete the Knowledge Check may affect your ability to demonstrate the required training for certification eligibility. Contact your training provider as soon as possible and ask how and when you can take it again. Our guide to PMP eligibility requirements shows how the 35 contact hours fit into your application.

How do you prepare for the Knowledge Check?
Take part in the course from the first session, and finish every activity before you take the check.
The Knowledge Check comes at the end of the course, so the learners who attend, complete the LMS activities and review the student kit are best placed to complete it. Our top study resources for PMP exam preparation and our guide on how to avoid PMP exam failures add habits that help with both the Knowledge Check and the exam.

For planning only. Tick the habits you already have, then see what to add before you take the Knowledge Check.
The preloaded example ticks three habits, so the check lists the three still to add before the Knowledge Check.
Frequently asked questions
How does the PMP Knowledge Check lead to your PMI Certificate of Achievement?
Complete your Project Management Professional (PMP) course with a PMI Authorized Training Partner, then complete the Knowledge Check at the end of the course. PMI generates the PMI Certificate of Achievement automatically when you complete it, and you can access it through myPMI and the learning platform.
Do you have to pass the Knowledge Check to get a PMP Certificate of Achievement?
No minimum score is required, but you must complete the Knowledge Check. PMI has told its Authorized Training Partners that learners must complete the Knowledge Check to receive a PMI Certificate of Achievement for the Project Management Professional (PMP) course. Learners who do not complete it will not receive the certificate.
Where do you find your PMI Certificate of Achievement?
You can access your Project Management Institute (PMI) Certificate of Achievement through myPMI and through the learning platform used for your Project Management Professional (PMP) course. Save a copy with your application records.
What is the student kit for the PMP course?
The student kit is PMI-approved content that reinforces key concepts for the Project Management Professional (PMP) exam. It also includes the Knowledge Check that learners must complete to generate their PMI Certificate of Achievement in the learning platform. A completed student kit helps verify your training if your application is audited.
What happens if you do not complete the Knowledge Check?
No PMI Certificate of Achievement is generated for the Project Management Professional (PMP) course until the Knowledge Check is completed. PMI says this may affect your ability to demonstrate the required training for certification eligibility. Ask your training provider how and when you can take the Knowledge Check again.
Is the PMI Certificate of Achievement the same as the PMP certification?
No. The PMI Certificate of Achievement is proof that you finished Project Management Professional (PMP) training with a PMI Authorized Training Partner. The PMP certification is awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI) only after you meet the eligibility requirements, pass the exam and are certified.
Do you get a certificate from 3FOLD Training as well as from PMI?
Yes. Learners on the Project Management Professional (PMP) course receive a 3FOLD Training certificate of completion. The PMI Certificate of Achievement is separate, and PMI generates it when the learner completes the Knowledge Check.
Can PMI use your PMI Certificate of Achievement in a PMP application audit?
PMI may use course completion records, including Knowledge Check results, to verify training completion if your Project Management Professional (PMP) application is selected for audit. Keep your certificates and make sure the provider name, course title, hours and dates match your application.
Will 3FOLD Training guarantee that I pass the PMP exam?
