How to check that your PMP® training provider is a PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP)
Use PMI’s official directory and the provider’s ATP badge, then check the materials, the instructor and the certificate.
In this guide
Many providers say their Project Management Professional (PMP®) course is “official”, but you should not have to take their word for it. The Project Management Institute (PMI®) publishes an official directory of its Authorized Training Partners (ATPs), and you can check a provider in a few minutes. The name to look for is PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP). This guide shows you how, what else to look for, and why it matters before 1 December 2026.
Quick answer
To check that a PMP training provider is a PMI Authorized Training Partner (ATP), search for its name in the PMI Authorized Training Partner directory and check its ATP digital badge on Credly. Then confirm that the course gives you official PMI materials, a PMI-authorized instructor and a PMI Certificate of Achievement. From 1 December 2026, live instructor-led training counts toward the 35 contact hours only when it comes through an approved pathway, such as a PMI Authorized Training Partner.
| Where to check | PMI Authorized Training Partner directory |
| What to type | The provider name, for example 3FOLD |
| Second check | The provider’s ATP digital badge on Credly |
| Inside the course | Official PMI materials, a PMI-authorized instructor and a PMI Certificate of Achievement |
| Why now | From 1 Dec 2026, live training counts only through PMI’s approved pathways, such as an ATP |
| 3FOLD Training | PMI Authorized Training Partner, listed in the directory |
Why does it matter whether your PMP® provider is a PMI Authorized Training Partner?
From 1 December 2026, live instructor-led training counts toward your 35 contact hours only when it comes through an approved pathway.
PMI’s new PMP exam page lists the approved pathways, which include PMI Authorized Training Partners. If you pay a provider that is not an ATP, you risk paying for hours that PMI will not count. Checking first costs you nothing.
Want a provider you can verify? 3FOLD Training is a PMI Authorized Training Partner.
How do you check the PMI Authorized Training Partner directory?
Open the official directory, type the provider’s name and read the listing.
- Open the PMI Authorized Training Partner directory. It is on PMI’s own website.
- Type the provider name in the filter box. To see how it works, type 3FOLD.
- Read the listing. It shows the provider name, its course focus, the instructor languages and the learner rating with the number of surveys completed.
- Check the course focus. A PMP provider should list a PMP preparation course.
If the provider does not appear, ask it to explain why before you pay. Names can differ slightly, so try a shorter version of the name first.
How do you check a provider’s ATP badge?
Open the provider’s Credly badge page and confirm the issuer, the name and the status.
PMI issues Authorized Training Partners a digital badge through Credly. On the badge page, check that PMI is the issuer, that the badge was issued to the provider’s exact name and that it has not expired. You can see ours here: 3FOLD Training’s PMI Authorized Training Partner badge on Credly.

What else shows that a PMP course comes from an ATP?
An ATP course delivers four things you can see for yourself.
| What to check | What you should see |
|---|---|
| Official materials | Access to official PMI course materials, such as the student kit in your PMI account |
| Instructor | A PMI-authorized instructor who holds the PMP and has completed a PMI trainer course |
| Knowledge Check | A Knowledge Check at the end of the training |
| Certificate | A PMI Certificate of Achievement, available through myPMI and the learning platform |
Ask the provider about all four before you enroll. Our illustrated activation guide shows how learners access the official materials, and our PMP eligibility guide explains where the 35 contact hours fit into your application.
Does the date on an ATP badge show how long a provider has taught PMP?
No. The date shows when the provider received the current ATP credential, not when it began teaching the PMP.
The 3FOLD Training badge on Credly was issued on 10 Aug 2020, which is when the current PMI Authorized Training Partner program credential was issued to us. 3FOLD Training was one of the first providers to receive it. That date does not mark when we started: 3FOLD Training has delivered PMP training since 2008. Please do not read the badge date as the start of our PMP training. A newer provider and a long-established one can show the same kind of badge, so use the date to check status and use the provider’s track record to judge experience.
