This is a 50-question LEED Green Associate mock exam, proportioned to the eight knowledge domains exactly as the real exam is. Give yourself one hour, answer every question before checking anything, then score against the answer key at the end. Half the length of the real exam, at the same difficulty.
Before you start
- Set a timer for 60 minutes. The real exam gives you two hours for 100 questions, so this is the same pace. Working out whether you can sustain that pace is half the point of a mock.
- Answer everything. There is no penalty for a wrong answer on the real exam, so never leave a blank.
- Do not check answers as you go. It feels productive and it destroys the diagnostic value.
- Write your answers down separately so you can review your reasoning afterwards, not just your score.
The questions are distributed like this: LEED Process 9, Energy and Atmosphere 9, Indoor Environmental Quality 7, Materials and Resources 6, Water Efficiency 6, Location and Transportation 5, Sustainable Sites 5, Integrative Process 3.
50-question LEED Green Associate mock exam
Complete all 50 questions before submitting. Give yourself 60 minutes and try to maintain the same pace you would need on the real exam.

How to read your score
| Score | What it suggests |
|---|---|
| 43–50 | Strong. If you also finished inside the hour and can explain your answers, you are close to ready. |
| 35–42 | On track. Work through the domains where you lost most marks, then retake this in a week. |
| 28–34 | More study needed before booking. Identify which two domains cost you the most and concentrate there. |
| Below 28 | Do not book yet. Structured preparation will save you more than the exam fee. |
Two caveats. The real exam is scored on a scaled score of 170 to pass, not on a raw percentage, so no mock score converts directly. And a mock you have seen before flatters you — a second attempt at the same 50 questions measures memory, not readiness.
What to do with your wrong answers
The score matters less than the pattern. Go back through everything you got wrong and ask which of these applies:
- You did not know the term. Straightforward to fix — add it to a flashcard set and move on.
- You knew the term but picked the wrong category. Very common, and it is what the domain-by-domain sets below are for.
- You reasoned from real-world practice rather than from LEED. This catches experienced professionals hardest. LEED tests LEED's answer, which occasionally differs from what you would do on site.
- You ran out of time. A pace problem, not a knowledge problem, and it needs a different fix: more timed practice, and a habit of flagging and moving on rather than staring at a hard question.

Frequently asked questions
Is this a real LEED exam?
No. Reproducing real exam questions breaches the agreement every candidate signs with GBCI. These are original questions written to the published exam specification.
Why 50 questions and not 100?
Fifty questions in an hour tests the same knowledge at the same pace and is long enough to be diagnostic. Full-length 100-question mocks with detailed debriefs are part of our course.
What score means I am ready?
There is no official equivalence, because the real exam uses a scaled score. As a working guide, 43 or more within the hour, with reasoning you can explain, suggests you are close.
Can I retake this mock?
Yes, but a second attempt at the same questions measures recall of these questions rather than readiness for the exam. Leave at least a week, and treat a repeat score with appropriate scepticism.
If the score was not what you hoped
A weak mock result is useful information, not a verdict. 3FOLD TRAINING delivers LEED Green Associate training aligned to LEED v5, with module quizzes, full-length mock exams and a debrief on where the marks went. If you already hold the Green Associate and are heading for the specialty exam, LEED AP BD+C training is the next step. Ask us anything through the course enquiry form.
