Online training has become the default way to prepare for the LEED exams, and for good reason: the exams themselves can be sat remotely, the study material suits structured self-study, and candidates are spread across time zones. This page explains how LEED GA and AP BD+C online training works at 3FOLD TRAINING — what a session is actually like, what you get access to, and how to choose between studying live and studying at your own pace.
A quick reminder of the two credentials
The LEED Green Associate is the foundational credential, with no prerequisites — anyone can register. The LEED AP with specialty is the advanced credential, and it requires an active Green Associate. Both exams are 100 multiple-choice questions in a 2-hour appointment with a passing scaled score of 170, and both can be taken at a Prometric test centre or remotely with online proctoring. 3FOLD TRAINING delivers preparation for the Green Associate and for the BD+C specialty. If you want the full explanation of each, read LEED GA and AP certifications, or compare them in the difference between LEED GA and LEED AP.
Two ways to study
Live virtual sessions. Delivered over Zoom as genuinely interactive classes, not webinars you watch in silence. The trainer works through each module with slides, worked examples and polls, and there is a question-and-answer segment after every module so nothing is left half-understood. You see and hear the other delegates, who typically join from across the Gulf, the subcontinent, Africa and Europe — the mix of project experience in the room is often as useful as the material.
Self-paced. The same syllabus and the same materials, worked through on your own schedule using the recorded sessions and the learning platform. This suits candidates whose working hours make a fixed class difficult, and anyone who prefers to move quickly through familiar sections and slow down on the technical ones.
Many candidates blend the two — attending live and then using the recordings to revisit the heavier modules such as Energy and Atmosphere before the exam.
What you get when you enrol
- One year of access to our learning platform, with separate sections for LEED GA and LEED AP.
- Recorded video lessons of the live sessions, from more than one trainer, so you can hear a topic explained a second way if the first did not land.
- Module-by-module practice quizzes, with unlimited attempts for the full year.
- Full-length mock exams for both GA and AP, mirroring the live format and scoring so you know where you stand before you book.
- Delegate manuals in PDF for both credentials, written to the LEED v5 rating system.
- Flashcards for the terminology and credit names that reward repetition.
- A Zoom registration link covering the whole live programme, if you are studying live.
Platform access runs for one year from the date of registration.
Getting the most out of a live session
- Join on time, and rejoin promptly after breaks — the modules build on each other.
- Mute when you are not speaking.
- Camera on is encouraged but not required. If you do turn it on, a quiet background and professional attire keep the session comfortable for everyone.
- Ask questions out loud. The polls and quizzes carry part of the session, but the discussion is where most of the value is — for you and for the rest of the group.
After the training
You receive a certificate of attendance within two days of finishing the course, and it counts towards the continuing education hours you will need later. A product manager then guides you through the exam application itself — registering on your USGBC account, understanding your eligibility ID and its validity window, and scheduling at a Prometric test centre or remotely. The step-by-step version is in how to become a LEED Professional.
Which LEED version does the training cover?
All materials are written to LEED v5, the current rating system, which launched on 28 April 2025. The Green Associate exam is based on v5 and the LEED AP BD+C exam is transitioning to it. Confirm the position for your exam in the USGBC LEED Candidate Handbooks before registering, and see our LEED v5 guide for GA and AP candidates.
Fees
Course fees and current dates are on the course pages: LEED Green Associate training, LEED AP BD+C training, and the LEED GA and AP BD+C combo course. GBCI exam fees are separate, set by USGBC and subject to change — check the current amount on the USGBC website before you register. What goes into the total is broken down in LEED GA and AP certification cost.
