Important PMP Exam Security Update from the Project Management Institute
As a PMI Approved Training Partner in UAE, 3FOLD Training FZE is pleased to share an important update regarding the PMP® Exam Preparation. PMI has recently announced significant enhancements to the security of the Project Management Professional (PMP)® exam. These updates underscore PMI’s commitment to maintaining the highest integrity, validity, and fairness standards for their certification programs.
What is New in the PMP Exam Security Update?
1. Enhanced Data Forensics & Security Policies: Starting 25 September 2023 (EST), PMI will implement enhanced data forensics and introduce stringent security policies for the PMP® exam. These measures are designed to bolster the credibility of the PMP® certification and ensure a fair and transparent testing process.
2. Change in Result Notification Process: Unlike the previous system where candidates received preliminary results immediately post-examination, now, their responses will be directed to PMI. Candidates will receive their exam results via email from PMI within five business days.
3. Modifications to Handling Misconduct: If misconduct is detected through enhanced data forensics, the concerned exam will be marked as a security failure with the new security update. Such candidates will be notified through email, stating the cancellation of their scores. Previously, candidates whose exams were invalidated were allowed to retake the exam free of charge. However, under the new guidelines, candidates must retake the exam in person and bear the cost.
Key Takeaways from the Enhanced Exam Security:
• Implementation Date: The revised exam security measures will be effective on 25 September 2023 (EST).
• Communication to Candidates: PMI will integrate these updates into various customer-facing materials, such as the Certification Handbook, PMP web pages, and online FAQs.
• Confidentiality: All matters related to scoring are deemed confidential. PMI will not disclose the list of affected candidates or share exam data with third parties.
• Impact on Eligibility: An exam security failure will be counted as one of the three PMP® exam attempts permitted within a single eligibility period. Candidates who get a score cancellation must take any subsequent exams in person at an official test center.
• Reason for No Online Retakes: To maintain the integrity of the PMP® exam, candidates with a security failure will not be allowed to retake the exam online. This step ensures stringent security protocol adherence and prevents potential misconduct, such as leveraging proxy testing services.
• Membership & Affiliation: While PMI does not currently have plans to revoke membership for those in exam security failure, it reserves the right to take action against any breach of ethics and professional conduct agreements. The relationship of training entities with PMI may also be reviewed based on security breaches.
